Southwest ~ Mexican Folk Art ~ RoMy Original Paintings
Title: "Saint Francis" Retablo
Size: 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" x 1/4"
Painted on Glazed Ceramic Tile ~ Comes w/Wooden Display Stand
DESCRIPTION
This charming retablo is dedicated to Saint Francis (the Patron of Peace & Animals) ~ Saint Francis has his arms outstretched and a dove in one hand and a cross in the other. There is a rabbit & a goat by his side. Lots of tiny crosses in the background. This is a somewhat whimsical rendition of Saint Francis and one that will surely add a loving and peaceful aura to any casa (home) in which it may be placed. Or office workplace!
The colours (very Oaxaca!) in this piece are really gorgeous! Coral, gold, yellow, turquoise, blue, red, orange, purple, pink ~ will go great with any colour scheme!
ABOUT THIS PAINTING
This Mexican folk art painting is an ORIGINAL work of art brightly painted with acrylics on a piece of glazed ceramic tile which comes with a small wooden display stand. This very collectible piece, which is 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" x 1/4", has been finished with several coats of non-yellowing acrylic enamel to protect and enhance its beauty for years to come. The back of this painting is signed by the artist, titled and dated (2009).
This St. Francis tile would also look fabulous bonded to any wall in your home, backporch or patio area!
And would make a wonderful, very unique gift, too!!
ABOUT THE ARTIST
The artist ~ RoMy ~ that's me! I live on the border between Texas and Mexico ~ near the Big Bend National Park ~ a few miles from Terlingua Ghost Town ~ and I love the history and culture of this area ~ a raw, still quite primitive land ~ a desert land where "rainbows wait for rain." The last few photos in this description show my outdoor studio which faces Santa Elena Canyon and the Rio Grande, the natural border between Old Mexico and Texas ~ and it is from this primitive setting ~ 80 miles from town ~ that I find most of my inspiration for painting. (in the photos Mexico is on the left side of the river and Texas is on the right)
I enjoyed the visit ~ Gracias! And, please, while you are here take a moment to
