Description:

RoMy Original Paintings

TITLE: "Autumn Festival"

Size: 20"x16" ~ NICE SIZE!!

Hola! Muchos Gracias for stopping by my Terlingua Art Studio near Terlingua Ghost Town & Big Bend National Park (Texas) along the border of Old Mexico! For your consideration today I am offering this original Americana Painting:

DESCRIPTION

Fall is in the air and the weather is turning crisp ~ a sure sign that it's time for this little hill country village's annual Autumn Festival! And what a busy day it is ~ a great turn-out from the community! And why not? Everyone knows that each year there will be many yummy goodies for sale ~ homemade pies (cherry, apple, peach & pumpkin), cider, jams, jelly, preserves, and not to forget those favourite candy apples the kids so love! Plus, there are always lots of special quilts ~ sewn by hand, of course! And Sally Jean is sure to have her Raggedy Ann Dolls ~ hope she made enough this year!! (Lots of little girls went home last year in tears because Sally Jean sold out before all the gals got their dollies!)

But for the boys the dolls aren't much fun ~ they'd rather play a good game of catch with their ball and their dog Rusty ~ then they'll fill up on the pies!

One little boy who is supposed to watch after his little sister ~ who is at the Raggedy Ann Doll table ~ is more busy watching the couple on the bench behind the old oak tree! No privacy here! And beneath the tree a squirrel is hoping all the hoop-la will soon be over ~ he'd like some acorns and a nap!

What a fine affair this is! All the ladies are wearing their best dresses and hats ~ and the men are in their cleanest bib overalls! The weather is perfect ~ the food is delicious, and the camaraderie can't be beat! Yepper ~ this is probably gonna be the BEST EVER Autumn Fest this community has yet known!

Many tiny, very intricate details in this artwork ~ and great animation! All the facial expressions tell a story! Every face has a distinct look! These folks are nearly real ~ and to me they are! Many hours were spent in this "village" with all these delightful characters and as I painted I felt that I was truly in the midst of this Autumn Fest ~ right there admiring the lovely quilts, eating a piece of fresh-baked cherry pie, and laughing as I watched the boys playing catch and the girls trying to decide which Raggedy Ann doll would be theirs! This piece which was so enjoyable to create is definitely a labour of Love! A charming painting that can be appreciated and enjoyed today ~ and passed down for generations to come!

This colourful painting attracts your eye and draws you into its setting with its feeling of warmth and its spirit of Love ~ and the beautiful shades of green, purple, red, gold, yellow will match almost anyone's color scheme!

ABOUT THIS PIECE

This Americana Folk Art painting is an ORIGINAL work of art, brightly painted with acrylics on gallery-wrapped, professionally stretched canvas measuring 20" x 16". This premier frame has sturdy, precisely tailored corners and the canvas is tight with clean, staple-free edges ~ all four sides have been painted so that this piece can be beautifully displayed the moment you receive it! There is a hanger on the back - when you receive this artwork all you need to do is place it in your special area and enjoy! Also, this piece has been finished with several coats of non-yellowing acrylic varnish to protect and enhance its beauty for many years to come.

This is a 10-DAY AUCTION and will end THURSDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 20th.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

The front of this painting is signed by the artist and the back is also signed, dated, and titled. By the way the artist "Romy" - that's me! I live on the border between Texas and Old Mexico ~ near the Big Bend National Park ~ a few miles from Terlingua Ghost Town ~ and I love the history and culture of this area ~ a raw, still quite primitive land ~ a desert land where "rainbows wait for rain." The last few photos in this description show my outdoor studio which faces Santa Elena Canyon and the Rio Grande, the natural border between Old Mexico and Texas ~ and it is from this primitive setting ~ 80 miles from town ~ that I find most of my inspiration for painting. (in the photos Mexico is on the left side of the river and Texas is on the right)

I enjoyed the visit ~ Gracias!
