Southwest ~ Mexican Folk Art Painting ~ RoMy
Title: "San Pascual Bailon"
Size: 40"x32" ~ AWESOME SIZE CANVAS!!!
Hola! Muchas Gracias for stopping by my Terlingua Art Studio near Terlingua Ghost Town & Big Bend National Park (Texas) along the border of Old Mexico! For your consideration today I am offering this original painting:
DESCRIPTION
Such a sweet aura in this Mexican retablo of San Pascual Bailon! The holy patron of cooks ~ also quaintly known as the "kitchen saint" ~ and to whom many pray: "San Pascual Bailon, tiza mi fogon" (San Pascual Bailon, inspire my kitchen). The Spanish lettering on this painting reads: I make the stew ~ and you add the seasoning.
San Pascual is cooking with his Talavera clay pots on the woodburning stove ~ and he is in good company with his loyal little grey tabby cat close at hand ~ kitty also has a tiny bowl of "leche" (milk) that is very cool & refreshing! On the floor is a clay pot with fresh vegetables purchased from mercado & about to go into the stew: squash, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, celery ~ ummnnn...sounds yummy! And no doubt it will be with the blessing of San Pascual!
What a cheery cocina this is! Bright yellow walls and a blue Talavera tile counter top ~ a pretty shelf above the red brick stove where cherished dishware is displayed ~ a favourite plate, pitcher, & vase ~ and on the counter are a set of ceramic canisters. And hanging below the shelf is a chili ristra, a string of indian corn, and a frying pan. Not only an attractive kitchen this is ~ but also a very well-equipped one!
This is a VERY LARGE work of art ~ almost 4 feet high! And nearly 3 feet wide! It measures 40"x32" and will spendidly decorate any wall on which it is placed ~ whether it is in your casa or place of work. This fabulous folk art painting will be a focal point and a special addition to the collection of artwork in any home, restaurant, church community room, etc.! Also, there are so many colours in this piece (turquoise, blue, green, purple, yellow, gold, coral, red & desert tan) that it will easily go with most any colour scheme!
What a great opportunity this is for the right buyer to add to his or her collection of Mexican Folk Art! And a perfect time to start a collection (if you haven't already) as Mexican Folk Art is quite popular now ~ and increasing in value with time.
Please Note: Colours may vary according to different computer monitors.
