MeXiCo SuNRiSe~Rooster~MeXiCaN FoLk ArT~RoMy Painting

Hola! Good to see you! Hope you are having as beautiful a morning as the folks in this little village I just finished painting ~ a little village in Old Mexico ~ this piece is titled "Mexico Sunrise" and it is available now on ebay ~ where you will also see lots more photos showing all the intricate detail!

And here is the next entry from Peter Koch's 1945 Diary of the Big Bend National Park (to read this diary from its start please refer back to my blog post of September 3, 2009)

April
Friday 13th

Went up to Laguna and from there to a point about three miles down to canyon of the boot springs. The total hile of twelve miles was pretty hard and my records for the trip include many blue throat hummers.

The last Sunday that I spent on Laguna we failed to see or hear a single one of the birds now there are 4 in a single group in the narrow gap before arriving at Laguna from the Basin.

Also recorded three wood peckers that looked spectacular in the dead limbs of a pine - black except for red spot on nape of head - wheat breast streaked with black and red on throat (of male?) with white ring around eye -

Identify as Anteating Mearns Woodpecker - found one next in lower Basin and another below Cabin at Laguna.

End of this day's diary entry

Please before leaving take a moment to visit me on ebay and see more photos of "Mexico Sunrise" ~ below is a description of this painting ~ and I hope everyone has a fabulous day ~ have FUN! RoMy

Southwest ~ Mexican Folk Art ~ RoMy Original Paintings

Title: "Mexico Sunrise"

Size: 12" x 9" (on gallery-wrapped canvas ~ ready to display!)

Hola! Muchos Gracias for stopping by my Terlingua Art Studio near Terlingua Ghost Town & Big Bend National Park (Texas) along the Old Mexico Border! For your consideration today I am offering this original painting:

DESCRIPTION

It's a gorgeous sunrise ~ and another beautiful day in Old Mexico! The pretty senoritas and the handsome hombres are up early ~ and everyone is outside to catch the warm morning sun rays and listen to Mr. Rooster crowing! All the folks in this quaint little village have much thanksgiving in their heart ~ they are joyful to be alive ~ and so happy to share love in their life! What a fine day this is! Life is good!!

"Mexico Sunrise" is a colourful, busy piece ~ with a rooster and a chicken ~ Talavera pots of cacti and flowers ~ and the senoritas wearing their very prettiest dresses! One of the senoritas is out trying to fetch her kitty cat ~ one is being flirted with ~ and one is receiving a beautiful bouquet of paper mache flowers from her sweetheart!

There are many tiny intricate details in this painting ~ the chili ristra ~ hanging baskets ~ tiny pots of plants on the balcony ~ and the smallest cross above the door of one of the casas! And the colours in this piece are gorgeous! Lovely shades of blue, turquoise, green, coral, pink, red, purple, desert tan, yellow and gold ~ a combination which will complement the colour scheme of most any casa! This piece will make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection of folk art! A great painting not just for the home ~ but also for a Mexican restaurant!

ABOUT THIS PAINTING

This Mexican folk art painting is an ORIGINAL work of art, brightly painted with acrylics on a professionally stretched, gallery wrapped canvas. This premier canvas is tightly wrapped & tucked around a very well-made, quality wooden frame with no side staples ~ and all four sides have been painted so that it is ready for you to immediately display & enjoy just as quickly as you receive it (no additional framing is necessary) ~ and a hanger is already attached! Also this piece has been finished with two coats of a non-yellowing acrylic varnish to protect and enhance its beauty for many years to come. The back of this painting is signed by the artist, titled and dated (2009). The measurements are 12" x 9".

This original painting is a wonderful treasure to collect for yourself ~ but it would also make a great gift!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

The artist ~ RoMy ~ that's me! I live on the border between Texas and Mexico ~ near the Big Bend National Park ~ a few miles from Terlingua Ghost Town ~ and I love the history and culture of this area ~ a raw, still quite primitive land ~ a desert land where "rainbows wait for rain." The last few photos in this description show my outdoor studio which faces Santa Elena Canyon and the Rio Grande, the natural border between Old Mexico and Texas ~ and it is from this primitive setting ~ 80 miles from town ~ that I find most of my inspiration for painting. (in the photos Mexico is on the left side of the river and Texas is on the right)

I enjoyed the visit ~ Gracias! And, please, while you are here take a moment to
