Hola! Muchas Gracias for stopping by my Terlingua Art Studio near Terlingua Ghost Town & Big Bend National Park (Texas) along the border of Old Mexico! For your consideration today I am offering this original painting:

DESCRIPTION

"La Monja Colorida" (The Colourful Nun) is a most unique painting! There are many nuns here at this mission in Old Mexico ~ but only the one whimsical little nun "Lydia" ~ dares to express herself with bold, beautiful colours from the bountiful palette of her Higher Power ~ The One Great Original Artist of All.

Lydia is dressed in lovely shades of purple and red, and tiny flowers are embroidered around her neck and hemline. In her hands is a small Talavera cross. And be sure and notice the little red shoes on her feet! Next to Lydia is Rafael ~ her pet burro. And all around the mission there are always lots of black crows! The mission is topped with a black cross and in the background is a vibrant yellow sun tinged with gold. This mission is a wonderful blend of colours and the desert landscape is dotted with agave and ocotillo.

This is a VERY LARGE work of art that will spendidly decorate any wall on which it is placed ~ whether it is in your casa or place of work. This special piece is a great opportunity for the right buyer to add to his or her collection of Southwest ~ Mexican Folk Art! The last few photos in this description show my outdoor studio which faces Santa Elena Canyon and the Rio Grande, the natural border between Old Mexico and Texas ~ and it is from this primitive setting ~ 80 miles from town ~ that I find most of my inspiration for painting. Painting on Tin w/Hanger~Senorita~MeXiCaN FoLk ArT~RoMy - eBay (item 150339335310 end time May-15-09 17:30:18 PDT)

Artist Quote for the Day: Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks. -- Simonides (6th-5th century, B.C.)

"Got Leche?" is a sweet little senorita painted on a piece of thin tin with a gold-toned hanger attached - ready to hang! A nice collectible piece of Mexican Folk Art!

I paint on tin, canvas, wood & ceramic tile and have many original paintings in sizes ranging from very small to really large! I especially enjoy painting these little tins, though, because my acrylic paint behaves like watercolor and is very fluid as it slips and slides across the slick tin surface and seemingly takes on a life of its own!

I hope you enjoyed stopping by my estudio & please drop in again to see what I'm working on! Have a great day! RoMy
