Hola! Muchos Gracias for stopping by my Terlingua Art Studio near Terlingua Ghost Town & Big Bend National Park (Texas) along the border of Old Mexico! For your consideration today I am offering this original ex-voto retablo with NO RESERVE:
DESCRIPTION

This is a whimsical little painting of San Antonio ~ the home's namesake saint ~ with a cross in one hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other standing in front of a pretty casa in Old Mexico ~ the senorita Lydia and her gato (cat) are very thankful always to San Antonio for his blessings and watch over their casa. Please note the many intricate details in this piece ~ a bright and cheery, hand-woven rug is at the front door and above the door is the tiniest cross ~ & the chili ristra is the sign of Welcome in Mexico ~ on the balcony there are many flowers and cactus in lovely clay pots ~ and on the roof Manny the rooster is crowing and a couple of chickens are headed his way to see what the ruckus is all about! The translation for the Spanish lettering on the bottom reads: "Lydia gives thanks to San Antonio for his careful watch over them always."
Many beautiful colours in this artwork ~ gold, yellow, turquoise, blue, green, red, purple, burnt orange and coral ~ enough gorgeous Fiesta colours to go with any color scheme in your casa! *Please note that colours may vary somewhat according to different computer monitors ~~~

This is a great piece of Southwest ~ Mexican Folk Art for decorating your home ~ office work place ~ or Mexican Restaurant! If you haven't yet started a collection of Mexican Folk Art what a perfect time to start ~ the investment you make in folk art today will surely increase in value with time!
ABOUT THIS PAINTING
This Mexican folk art painting is an ORIGINAL work of art, brightly painted with acrylics on a piece of thin TIN which makes it especially charming & folk artsy (tin is a most popular "canvas" to paint on in Old Mexico) Also, this piece, which is 8 1/4" x 8", has been finished with several coats of non-yellowing acrylic enamel to protect and enhance its beauty for years to come. There is already a tiny nail hole punched in the top so that it is ready to display & enjoy as quickly as you receive it! The front of this painting is signed by the artist, and the back is signed, titled and dated (2010).
This tin is nice displayed by itself ~ or in a collection! (just as they decorate their casa in Old Mexico ~ tins all over the walls!)
Also these make a wonderful gift!!
ABOUT THE ARTIST
The artist ~ RoMy ~ that's me! I live on the border between Texas and Mexico ~ near the Big Bend National Park ~ a few miles from Terlingua Ghost Town ~ and I love the history and culture of this area ~ a raw, still quite primitive land ~ a desert land where "rainbows wait for rain." The last few photos in this description show my outdoor studio which faces Santa Elena Canyon and the Rio Grande, the natural border between Old Mexico and Texas ~ and it is from this primitive setting ~ 80 miles from town ~ that I find most of my inspiration for painting. (in the photos Mexico is on the left side of the river and Texas is on the right)
I enjoyed the visit ~ Gracias! And, please, while you are here take a moment to
