DESCRIPTION
It's another gorgeous morning in Old Mexico ~ the sun is on the rise ~ and this is the time of day Sister Sara most enjoys riding her little burro Julio ~ together they ride across the Chihuahuan desert and bless all the critters ~ this day the little rabbit "Paco" is eager to receive his daily blessing and then he shall safely be on his way ~ knowing no harm shall befall him ~~~
In the background the mission with a tiny cross on top, the ocotillo, and the verbena put the finishing touches on this charming piece ~ ~ ~ such a peaceful aura around this painting ~ very soothing yet so vibrant ~~~
"Sister Sara" is a highly collectible piece of Mexican Folk Art for all you collectors! It will add an extra special touch to the decor of any casa! Or office workplace!

ABOUT THIS PAINTING

This Mexican folk art painting is an ORIGINAL work of art, brightly painted with acrylics on a piece of thin TIN which makes it especially charming & folk artsy (tin is a most popular "canvas" to paint on in Old Mexico) Also, this piece, which is approx. 6 1/8" x 6", has been finished with several coats of non-yellowing acrylic enamel to protect and enhance its beauty for years to come. Ordinarily when I paint one of these "tins" I punch a hole in it so that it is ready to hang ~ however, this time I decided to leave the choice to you, the buyer, to decide how to display your new artwork! This tin can be displayed just as it is by placing it on a small easel, or propped against a fireplace mantle, a window sill, a bookshelf, etc. You could even attach a picture hanger hook on back ~ or with a hammer and a nail, just punch a small hole at the top ~ or perhaps two (one on each side). You could then mount it directly to the wall ~ or make a nice hanger for it with wire or raffia or ribbon! Or attach a magnet to the back (no glue needed) and this tin will stick to your refrigerator, file cabinet ~ or anything metal! Plus because of its durability it would make great outdoor decor! Lots of ideas for you to choose from. And of course you can always frame it! The front of this painting is signed by the artist, and the back is signed, titled and dated (2010).
This tin is nice displayed by itself ~ or in a collection! (just as they decorate their casa in Old Mexico ~ tins all over the walls!)

This whimsical little retablo is dedicated to Saint Gertrude ~ the Patron Saint of Cats ~~~ Saint Gertrude loves her little gatos! So dear they are to her ~ but also she cares for the well-being of the mice ~ and the birds ~ and every living creature ~ she wishes only that all might live together peaceably ~~~
Saint Gertrude is painted to look as though she were displayed in a niche ~ this "niche" has a cross on either side of the border ~ at the top is a cat and two mice ~ St. Gertrude is in the center with a kitty in her arms ~ standing by her feet are two more cats and in the background are two lovely red birds in the trees ~ outside the borders are many tiny crosses ~~ this painting has such a peaceful aura ~ a special atmosphere of tranquillity ~ and is a highly collectible piece of Mexican Folk Art for all you collectors! It is a day of fiesta in Old Mexico ~ a time of celebration ~ Cinco de Mayo! And everyone is headed to the courtyard of this little village where the festivities will take place! The pretty senorita Lydia ~ wearing her best dress and a tiny cross necklace ~ is with the handsome hombre Antonio ~ and they are stopping to listen to the beautiful music of the mariachi ~ the two little girls Maria and Tia have stopped to discuss something in great detail ~ Rudolpho is coming to this special occasion alone but hoping to meet a lovely senorita who will save him a dance ~ and following them are many others of every age ~ what a wonderful day this promises to be!
The children will all play pinata ~ the women will shop ~ the men will swap stories ~ and everyone will sample food from each vendor's table! Then there will be much dancing and romancing! ~~ But the hours will past all too quickly and before any one is ready the clock will strike midnight and the day of Cinco de Mayo will be over ~ until next year!

Another gorgeous night in Old Mexico ~ the time of evening when the pretty senorita Lydia and her little gato Lego enjoy a leisurely walk along the trail to the top of the Mesa Grande ~ the last chore of the day is done ~ the desert air is now cool and pleasant ~ and there is no place these these two would rather be! What joy it is to look up at the abundance of stars ~ to search for the different constellations ~ and to pinpoint the Little Dipper in the sky! How good is life to provide such blessings!
A sliver of a moon, many ocotillo and verbena, and the tiny casita where Lydia and Lego live at the foot of the mesa put the finishing touches on this charming piece ~~~ (and can you find the Little Dipper in this painting?)

The two babies ~ nesting in this lovely clay pot ~ are hungry & ready for desayuno! Perched atop the cactus not far away is Mama who hears their cry for breakfast! No doubt she will soon be combing the desert for a tasty worm or bug for these wee ones of hers!

This tin can be displayed just as it is by placing it on a small easel, or propped against a fireplace mantle, a window sill, a bookshelf, etc. You could even attach a picture hanger hook on back ~ or with a hammer and a nail, just punch a small hole at the top ~ or perhaps two (one on each side). You could then mount it directly to the wall ~ or make a nice hanger for it with wire or raffia or ribbon! Or attach a magnet to the back (no glue needed) and this tin will stick to your refrigerator, file cabinet ~ or anything metal! Lots of ideas for you to choose from. And of course you can always frame it! Plus ~ because it is painted on tin it will make great outdoor decor too! The front of this painting is signed by the artist, and the back is signed, titled and dated (2010).

I live on the border between Texas and Mexico ~ near the Big Bend National Park ~ a few miles from Terlingua Ghost Town ~ and I love the history and culture of this area ~ a raw, still quite primitive land ~ a desert land where "rainbows wait for rain." DESCRIPTION

"Salida del sol en Mexico" ~ (Sunrise in Mexico) ~~
It's another gorgeous morning in the Chihuahuan Desert of Old Mexico ~ the sun is on the rise ~ and the pretty cactus in this clay pot on the windowsill of a little casita is joyously soaking up all the brilliant rays! On one side of this window is a hanging basket with beautiful flowers ~ on the other side is a chili ristra (the sign of Welcome in Old Mexico) ~ outside the window on the horizon are a few ocotillo in bloom and a scattering of verbena scents the air ~~~
This sweet painting has a very inviting aura ~ a very soothing & tranquil atmosphere ~ and is a highly collectible piece of Mexican Folk Art for all you collectors! It will add an extra special touch to the decor of any casa! Or office workplace!
This is a lovely little painting with lots of Old Mexico FiEsTa colours ~ turquoise, blue, green, purple, burnt orange, yellow, coral, red, and gold! Enough colours to match the colour scheme of any casa! Also this would look nice in a Mexican restaurant, too!

This Mexican folk art painting is an ORIGINAL work of art, brightly painted with acrylics on a piece of thin TIN which makes it especially charming & folk artsy (tin is a most popular "canvas" to paint on in Old Mexico) Also, this piece, which is approx. 6 1/8" x 6", has been finished with several coats of non-yellowing acrylic enamel to protect and enhance its beauty for years to come. Ordinarily when I paint one of these "tins" I punch a hole in it so that it is ready to hang ~ however, this time I decided to leave the choice to you, the buyer, to decide how to display your new artwork! Buenos Dias, Mi Amigos! It's another gorgeous day here in the Big Bend National Park area along the border of Old Mexico and the Rio Grande! Last evening the wonderful rain came and gave all the desert a refreshing drink of Mother Nature's water! Muchos Gracias for the rain!

Here he is with his little gato (cat) ~ in a boat upon the sea ~ where he is preaching to all the fish ~ so eager are the fish to hear St. Francis that they are swimming right up to the boat and jumping in ~ one has even landed in the arms of St. Francis!
This charming retablo is a highly collectible piece of Mexican Folk Art for all you collectors! It will add an extra special touch to the decor of any casa! Or office workplace!
